Lacrosse Earns Home Opener, 13-6

WASHINGTON -Â After trailing by a goal at halftime, the GW lacrosse team held Kent State scoreless in the second half to earn a home opening victory over the Golden Flashes, 13-6. With the win, the Revolutionaries move to 2-0 on the season after opening weekend.Â

To start the game, it was a back-and-forth affair, with GW outscoring Kent State 4-2 in the first before getting outscored 4-1 leading into halftime. In the second half, five GW Revs got on the board to bring home the win. In the cage, first-year Gabi Greth made 11 saves over the course of the afternoon to earn an impressive .647 save percentage.Â

The GW offense was powered by Katie Fullowan and Grace Curry, who each registered hat tricks, followed by Caroline Sullivan and Mimi Walters who netted two apiece. Sophia Levine, Everly Kessler and Mckenna Jacobs were also able to get on the board. Feeding the attack, Kiki Rotay, Sophia Levine and Grace Curry all tallied an assist. The GW defense was also fueled by Phoebe Mullarkey (3 ground balls, 1 caused turnover) and Stella Ray (2 ground balls, 1 caused turnover).Â
