WASHINGTON - GW lacrosse suffered its first setback of the season against American on Wednesday afternoon, falling to the host Eagles, 13-7. After the Eagles got on the board within the first minute of play, GW's leading scorer Katie Fullowan responded off an assist from Emma McLaughlin to even things out. Both teams would find the back of the net again in the first, and GW trailed by one after 15 minutes of action, 3-2. American would strike again in the second, but Caroline Sullivan would find the back of the net to keep things within one. The Eagles scored again before the break, leaving a two goal deficit for the Revolutionaries at halftime. The second half was virtually all Eagles, with GW getting outscored 8-4 by American. In the final 15 minutes, Everly Kessler and Fullowan added a combined three goals, but the comeback was not sufficient to topple American's lead, leading to the 13-7 defeat at the Jacobs Complex.
