WASHINGTON – The George Washington women's basketball team is set to celebrate Senior Day on Sunday, welcoming Davidson to the Smith Center for a noon matchup. The matchup, which is GW's penultimate home game of 2025, will air live on ESPN+.
SENIOR DAY BREAKDOWN
Prior to Sunday's game, GW will honor the four graduating members of its team as part of Senior Day. Beginning roughly 15 minutes prior to the game's noon tip-off, Maxine Engel, Makayla Andrews, Paige Mott and Mariona Planes Fortuny will be honored for their athletic and academic careers with the Buff & Blue. Graduate Assistant Evelyn Adebayo will also be recognized as she's finishing her final season with the program before earning her graduate degree.
Sunday's contest will also serve as the team's Alumni Day. The Revolutionaries will welcome alumnae from various decades back to the Smith Center with a day full of activities. Women's basketball alums who haven't secured their spot yet can do so here.
SIMS LIGHTS IT UP
On Wednesday at Richmond, sophomore Kamari Sims lit up the nets, connecting on 5-6 attempts from downtown. The 6-1 guard set a new season-high in points with 15, falling just one shy of her career-high set last year as a rookie. Sims went a perfect 4-4 from the floor in the first half, making triples on three straight possessions late in the second quarter. Her 15 points led all scorers for the Buff & Blue on Wednesday, and her five three-pointers also tied her career high for a single contest.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
Davidson arrives in the DMV coming off a big 66-50 win over George Mason on Thursday. The Wildcats have won six games in a row and are currently tied for third in the Atlantic 10 standings with Saint Joseph's. Led by head coach Gayle Fulks, who's in her eighth season, Davidson has a 16-11 overall record but is red-hot in conference play, boasting an 11-4 mark against A-10 foes. Along with the Patriots, Davidson has beaten St. Bonaventure, Dayton, Massachusetts, Loyola Chicago and VCU on its current win streak.
The Wildcats are paced by Charlise Dunn, who's averaging 11.4 points a game. She's also first on the team in rebounding, pulling down 5.9 boards a night. Issy Morgan averages 10.2 points and a team-best 2.4 assists, while Katie Donovan tallies 10.1 points a contest. Edina Strausz leads the team in field goal percentage, shooting 58.8% from the floor this season.
