Women's Basketball Falls to Saint Joseph's, 57-42

WASHINGTON - For 10 minutes on Saturday at the Charles E. Smith Center, the George Washington women's basketball team gave the second-place team in the conference all it could handle. Saint Joseph's came to DC with an 8-2 record in conference play and vying for postseason positioning. After the first quarter, it was GW in the lead, 13-7. From there it was all Hawks in the 57-42 win for the visitors.
Makayla Andrews led GW with 16 points on 7-of-16 shooting, but offense was generally tough to come by in the Revolutionaries' .345 shooting day. The Hawks' All-Conference performer Laura Ziegler led all players with 20 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. Gabby Reynolds put in nine for GW, while Paige Mott led the club with eight rebounds.
GW will now look to snap its losing skid Tuesday when Fordham comes to town for a 6 p.m. tip on National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
GW fans can get in the game by directly supporting student-athletes through donations to the Buff & Blue Fund. For more information on GW Athletics, fans are encouraged to visit GWsports.com, or follow the Revolutionaries on social media through X (@GWsports) and Instagram (@gwsports).
In addition, season ticket deposits for the 2024-25 GW men's and women's basketball campaigns are currently being accepted through the GW Athletics Ticket Office (202-99-GWTIX or tickets@gwu.edu).
