Coach G Era Starts With a W at GW

WASHINGTON - The debut of Head Coach Ganiyat Adeduntan started with a bang at GW in an 86-47 rout against city foe UDC on Opening Night at the Smith Center.
Coach G used 12 players and 11 found the scoring column in a complete team win, with the offense playing for one another, making the extra pass to find the open shot, and resulting in a program-record tying 15 three-pointers. GW's 15-of-27 (.556) performance from deep came courtesy of an unselfish offense that assisted on 23 of 32 made field goals, with true freshman guard Mia James dishing eight assists in her collegiate debut. James also netted 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including a pair of GW's treys.
Three other Revolutionaries found their way to double-digits, paced by another first-year in Colleen Phiri, who poured in 18 points in 23:10 off the bench, sparked by a sizzling 4-of-5 effort from deep. Kamari Sims (13) and Emma Theodorsson, with 10 in her GW debut, were among eight players who shot 50% or better for George Washington.
GW will see stiffer competition in its next clash, on the road at Temple this Friday at 7 p.m.
