PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The George Washington women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the 2025-26 season, an 86-50 defeat at Temple on Friday night. The Revolutionaries move to 1-1 on the young season, while the Owls pick up their second win in as many games.
Neither team lit the scoreboard on fire early, as both teams struggled with turnovers and difficulty shooting from the floor. Both clubs had six turnovers at the end of the first quarter, with GW shooting 3-11 from the field and Temple going 2-17 from the floor. The Owls held a slim 13-9 lead after the first, using seven made free throws in the game's first 10 minutes to scrape together a slim advantage.
The tables turned the rest of the way as Temple outscored GW 26-10 in the second, 25-15 in the third and 22-16 in the fourth, cruising to the win. The Owls ultimately had a stellar day from beyond the arc, netting 12-19 from deep. The home team also righted the ship to shoot 31-68 (45.6%) from the floor, while limiting GW to 20-58 (34.5%) overall.
Kamari Sims and Colleen Phiri led the way for GW, both netting 11 points for the Buff & Blue. Phiri grabbed four rebounds, while Sims snatched two steals as well. Gabby Reynolds and Jaeda Wilson both chipped in six apiece, while Sara Lewis added five. Temple was led by Jaleesa Molina with 15 points and seven boards, while Kaylah Turner poured in 14.
GW returns to action on Tuesday, welcoming Howard to the Smith Center for a 6:00 p.m. contest. Live coverage will be available on ESPN+.
