Women’s Basketball Slips vs. Loyola Chicago, 67-63
1/5/2025 3:04:00 PM | Women's Basketball
WASHINGTON - A Sunday matinee brought the Ramblers of Loyola Chicago to DC as George Washington looked for its first A-10 home win in its first game of 2025.
Deadlocked heading into the final quarter, and with GW trailing by just one with less than 30 seconds to play, after a GW miss in front of its own bench, a timeout was called with Loyola in possession of the ball, clinging to a 64-63 lead with 23.2 on the clock. A foul sent Loyola to the line, and after a pair of Rambler makes, the Revolutionaries stared at a three-point hole and 20.3 seconds to rally. An errant three-point try turned the ball back over to the guests, and Loyola sealed the contest at the line, claiming the 67-63 win.
Gabby Reynolds proved to be the instant offense off the bench that George Washington was looking for. The frosh accounted for 17 points, featuring a long-range game with three makes in six attempts behind the arc.
Makayla Andrews also packed some scoring pop, putting in 18 to lead all scorers.
Every quarter saw the teams play within a four-point margin in a game that neither side ever led by more than six.
The GW Revs' undoing came at the free throw line where the team left 14 points by connecting at a .500 clip (14-of-28).
GW hits the road this week for a Wednesday morning tip in the Bronx. Game time at Fordham comes at 11 a.m. on the 8th, with the Revolutionaries looking to improve to 2-0 in A-10 road contests this season. The team returns home Saturday for another noon tip vs. Duquesne, live on ESPN+.
