Swimming & Diving Kicks Off 2024-25 Campaign at Virginia Tech

Buff & Blue open its A-10 title defense vs. Hokies in Christiansburg, VA
WASHINGTON - The George Washington University men's and women's swimming & diving teams open the 2024-25 season on Saturday when they travel to Christiansburg, Va. for a dual-meet against the Virginia Tech Hokies. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. and live results can be found on the Meet Mobile app.
CHICO REGO ERA BEGINS
The Chico Rego era in Foggy Bottom officially begins this week as the Revolutionaries set out to compete vs. Virginia Tech. Rego, who comes to GW as the former associate head coach at Georgia Tech, was appointed as the head coach of GW swimming & diving in June of this year, and will look to continue the rich tradition and success of the swimming and diving programs.
ALSO NEW TO GW SWIMMING & DIVING
The Revolutionaries added 10 student-athletes to the roster ahead of the 2024-25 season. Along with its new head coach and student-athletes, the Buff & Blue welcomed assistant coach Gabi Trainor to the staff ahead of the coming season.
ABOUT THE HOKIES
Virginia Tech comes into the 2024-25 season on the heels of a ninth- (men's) and 26th-place (women's) finishes at last season's NCAA Championships. The Hokies' men's team also outplaced its women's team at the ACC Championships, finishing in third and sixth, respectively.
The Revolutionaries will battle the Hokies to start the season for the fourth consecutive year. GW fell to Virginia Tech last season at the Smith Center, 169-120 (men's) and 157-132 (women's). Head Coach Sergio Lopez Miro leads Virginia Tech into action in his seventh season.
