Fowkes Earns All-Conference Honors at A-10 Championships

FAIRFAX, Va. – Ryan Fowkes earned All-Conference honors for the third consecutive year in the 1500m to highlight GW's showing during day two of the 2024 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships.
Fowkes clocked a time of 3:48.15 to finish second in the 1500m final on Sunday morning. Fowkes beat out 10 other runners in the field of 12 and finished just behind Saint Louis' Harrison Martinenko, who won gold in 3:47.69. Fowkes previously won All-Conference honors for GW in the same event in 2022 and 2023. Later in the day, Fowkes competed in the 5000m, finishing with a time of 14:35.89 for 16th.
Sarah Mitchell also had a solid day for the Buff & Blue, finishing fifth in the 1500m with a new PR time of 4:27.93. She broke her own personal record of 4:28.47 which was set yesterday during the 1500m prelim race. Mitchell also competed in the 5000m for GW, finishing with a mark of 18:12.78 for 29th out of 47 runners.
Also competing in the 5000m race for GW on the men's side were Michael Bohlke, Austin Brotemarkle and Brayden Bayek. Bohlke put together a great showing in the race, recording a 14:20.52 for fifth out of 41 runners. Brotemarkle also cracked the top ten with a PR time of 14:22.56 for ninth, while Bayek finished 23rd with a PR of 14:54.95.
On the women's side of the 5000m, Una Boylan and Olivia Syftestad finished side by side in the final results. Boylan clocked a time of 17:34.53 to finish in ninth place for the Buff & Blue, while Syftestad recorded a 17:36.37 to finish 10th.
In relay action, the Revolutionaries competed in the 4x100m, finishing with a 49.13 to break the program record of 49.77 set just two weeks ago at the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational. The relay team consisted of Kayla DeSousa, Rachel Horowitz, Kamryn Holness and Janae Russell and their record time landed them 11th in the final standings.
The 2024 postseason continues from May 22-25 at the NCAA Outdoor East Regionals in Lexington, Ky. Information on which GW runners will advance to the event will be announced at a later date. Follow GWsports.com for all information as it becomes available.
