Men’s Soccer Hosts Stony Brook on Tuesday

WASHINGTON - Fresh off its 1-0 win over Iona in Saturday's home opener, the George Washington men's soccer team (1-0-2, 0-0-0 A-10) will look to defend The Vern again on Tuesday when it hosts Stony Brook (1-2-0, 1-0-0 CAA). Kickoff at the GW Soccer Field has been moved to 4:30 p.m. due to expected high temperatures, and the match will be streamed on ESPN+.
A SPLENDID SATURDAY
GW picked up its first win of 2023 on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Iona. First-year Ben Hissrich stayed hot with his third goal in three matches and scored the game-winner with his blast in the 79th minute, while senior goalkeeper Duncan Wegner made 10 saves and recorded his first-career shutout in his first start of 2023.
GW remains unbeaten after Saturday's victory and the Revolutionaries are off to their second-consecutive 1-0-2 start to the year.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Stony Brook enters Tuesday's match at 1-2-0 on the season and 1-0 in CAA matches. The Seawolves lost its first two matches of the year to LIU and Iona, before bouncing back with a 4-0 win over CAA rival Elon.
Seawolves midfielder Amit Magoz was recently tabbed as the CAA Co-Offensive Player of the Week following his five-point week. Magoz scored in Stony Brook's loss to Iona, and picked up a goal and an assist in the Seawolves win over Elon.
GW is 1-0-1 all-time against Stony Brook, with the most recent meeting being a 3-2 Buff and Blue victory in 2018.

The Revolutionaries travel to San Diego this weekend for a pair of matches in southern California. GW will challenge San Diego State (10 p.m. ET) on Friday, Sept. 8, before wrapping up the trip against San Diego (4 p.m. ET) on Sunday, Sept. 10.
