WASHINGTON - Behind a three-goal outpour at the GW Soccer Field, the George Washington men's soccer team (2-0-2, 0-0-0 A-10) rolled past Stony Brook (1-3-0, 1-0-0 CAA), 3-1, for its second victory in four days. Nacho Alastuey, Will Turner and Colin Prendergast were the goal scorers for GW, as the Revolutionaries improved to 2-0 on home turf.
HOW IT HAPPENED
22nd Minute: After winning a 50-50 ball out of the air and controlling possession on his own, Turner slotted a pass through two Stony Brook defenders and right to the feet of a streaking Alastuey, who hit a one-touch shot with his left foot up and over the Seawolves' goalkeeper to give GW a 1-0 edge.
22nd Minute: Moments after the first GW strike, George Vincent received a throw-in in attacking territory and layed the ball off to Turner, who beat two Stony Brook defenders before firing a shot through the legs of the Seawolves' goalkeeper from a difficult angle for the eventual match-winner.
38th Minute: Stony Brook got one back after Olsen Aluc scored his third of the year by getting his head on an in-swinging corner kick.
59th Minute: Colin Prendergast gave GW an insurance goal in the same manner that Stony Brook cut into the lead. Conor Stephens sent in the in-swinging cross, which found Prendergast, who rose up over a Seawolves' defender and left no doubt, heading the ball in for GW's third goal.
