NORFOLK, Va. - Junior-transfer Will Turner impressed with a goal and an assist in his GW debut, but nothing separated the Revolutionaries and Monarchs on Thursday night as the season opener finished in a 2-2 draw.

HOW IT HAPPENED

36th Minute: Turner collected a loose ball on the side of the Old Dominion box, and after evading two Monarch defenders, found an open Ben Hissrich at the top of the box who fired a first-touch shot into the top corner of the net.
45th Minute: In the waning seconds of the first half, GW earned a free kick in attacking territory. Junior Sean Vaghedi sent a curling cross into the box, which found the head of Turner, who finished for his first goal in the Buff and Blue.
49th Minute: A handball in the box resulted in a Monarchs' penalty kick, converted by Karan Mandair.
69th Minute: An overdriven corner kick was recycled back into the box and found Monarchs' forward Michael Eberle, who tied the game with a looping header.

NOTEWORTHY

Turner was involved with both of the Revolutionaries' goals, picking up a goal and an assist in the match.
Hissrich opened the scoring with his first collegiate goal.
Tom Macauley earned his first career start in goal and made four saves on 16 shots faced.
GW featured five first-years in the starting lineup (Yago Torres, Dan Dobrin, Colin Prendergast, John Matlock, Macaulay), along with three first-years who came off the bench (Hissrich, Mark Nakamura, George Vincent).
GW trailed ODU 16-8 in shots and 6-5 in shots on goal.
Yellow cards were issued to GW's Vaghedi (8th minute) and Turner (52nd minute), and to ODU's Karan Mandair (21st minute), Nathan Lam (35 minute), Key White (54th minute) and Ulysses Vega (55th minute).
