WASHINGTON - The George Washington men's soccer team (3-9-4, 1-5-1 A-10) will host its final match of the regular season this Saturday when George Mason (5-6-3, 2-4-1 A-10) makes the short trip to the GW Soccer Field. The Revolutionaries will celebrate both Senior Day and Alumni Day during Saturday's match, which will kick off at 3 p.m. on ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT
The Revolutionaries picked up their first A-10 win and first win on the road this season when they thwarted an active La Salle attack in their 1-0 victory last Saturday in Philadelphia. Will Turner scored the match's only goal in the 32nd minute, while GW fought off 19 shots from the Explorers and earned its first clean sheet against an A-10 opponent this season. Goalkeeper Duncan Wegner stopped both La Salle shots on goal to secure his third win of the season, while lowering his goals against average to a team-best 1.09.
SENIOR SEND OFF
GW will honor seven seniors and graduate students who have played a combined 19 seasons for the Buff and Blue ahead of Saturday's kickoff: Nacho Alastuey, Demi Amigun, Carter Humm, Michael Khan, Lucas Matuszewski, Tim Neumann and Conor Stephens. The Buff and Blue thank these seven student-athletes for their hard work and dedication to GW men's soccer.
WELCOME BACK ALUMNI
GW welcomes back alumni of the men's soccer program on Saturday for Alumni Day at the GW Soccer Field. Alumni are invited to watch Saturday's match vs. George Mason and to attend a post-game reception with the team and parents in the Tin Tabernacle Club on Saturday evening.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
George Mason enters the regular-season finale with seven conference points, which puts the Patriots on the outside looking in on the A-10 Championship. George Mason is 2-2-1 in its last-five A-10 matches, most recently suffering a 2-1 loss to VCU.
With five goals and nine assists this season, Luis Maestre will lead the Patriots into action on Saturday. Jaume Salvado, who has played every minute in net for the Patriots, is likely to get the start and has a 1.36 goals allowed average to go along with his .655 save percentage.
