GW will look to get off to its best A-10 start since 2016-17 with a win
WASHINGTON – Following an impressive home victory over Fordham on Wednesday, George Washington women's basketball will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. for a Saturday afternoon clash with La Salle University. GW is looking to go 4-1 in A-10 play for the first time since the 2016-17 campaign. Tip-off between the Colonials and Explorers is scheduled for noon with coverage available on ESPN+.
PLENTY OF WEEKEND PLANS
George Washington will have a packed schedule this upcoming weekend, playing two conference games in the span of three days and finishing off a stretch of four games in nine days. Following GW's game against La Salle on Saturday afternoon, GW will take the court again less than 48 hours later to face George Mason in Fairfax on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Coverage of the holiday edition of the Revolutionary Rivalry, which includes the GW men's basketball game at Mason later in the day, begins live on CBS Sports Network at noon.
20-POINT PROWESS
First-year Nya Robertson dominated Fordham last time out, dropping a game-high 23 points and improving her A-10 rookie-leading scoring average to 12.2 points per game. Robertson's scintillating offensive performance on Wednesday was her third 20-point scoring game this year, which leads all GW players. Additionally, Robertson is the first Colonial with three 20-point games in a season since Neila Luma accomplished the feat during the 2018-19 campaign.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS
La Salle enters Saturday's game at 10-8 overall and 1-2 in Atlantic 10 play this season. In their last game, the Explorers tallied their first conference win when they downed George Mason at home, 69-62.
Saturday's match-up will feature a battle between GW's potent 3-point attack, which is currently ranked second in the A-10 (34.6 percent), and La Salle's stingy 3-point defense, which is ranked third among A-10 teams (29.1 percent).
Claire Jacobs and Kayla Spruill will lead the Explorers' offense against GDUB. Jacobs is 15th overall in the A-10 in scoring, averaging 12.8 points a night, while Spruill is one spot below her at 16th overall and averaging 12.4 points.
HISTORY AGAINST LA SALLE
Saturday will be the 47th meeting between George Washington and La Salle. GW enters the game with a massive 38-8 advantage in the all-time series. Last year, La Salle took home a 63-55 win over the Colonials in the final game of the regular season, but GW got its revenge when it upset No. 5 La Salle in the second round of the A-10 Championship, 64-54.
