Syftestad, Broedner Take Home A-10 Postseason Awards

Syftestad earns All-Rookie honors, Broedner named to All-Academic team
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - First-year Olivia Syftestad and graduate student Logan Broedner of the GW track and field teams each earned an Atlantic 10 postseason award, the league announced on Thursday.
Syftestad was named to the A-10 All-Rookie team, while Broedner earned All-Academic honors.
Syftestad was the top rookie finisher in the 5000m with a time of 17:24.96, good for eighth-fastest in the A-10 overall. In addition to her success in the 5000m, Syftestad also set a personal record in the 1500m and was a member of GW's 4x1500m relay team that set a new GW record with a time of 18:54.44. This is the second All-Conference nod for Syftestad, who was also named to the A-10 Cross Country All-Rookie team in the Fall.
Broedner earned his All-Academic honors after achieving a 3.67 GPA while earning his degree in public policy. The graduate student also excelled on the track this spring, earning All-Conference honors after winning the 3000m steeplechase at the A-10 Championships.
