WASHINGTON – George Washington women's basketball will hit the road for the final time during its non-conference slate when it travels down to Texas to take on TCU. Tip-off between GW and the Horned Frogs is scheduled for Monday at 7:30 p.m. EST. Coverage is available live on ESPN+.
EYES ON TWENTY
Last time out, GW dominated Ohio in a runaway 74-57 victory at the Charles E. Smith Center. The win came courtesy of two huge offensive nights from Nya Robertson (24 points) and Jayla Thornton (23 points).
Robertson and Thornton are the first pair of GW teammates to each score 20+ points in a game since Lexi Martins and Caira Washington accomplished the feat at La Salle in February of 2017.
300 RECOGNITION
During her sharp shooting night against Ohio, Jayla Thornton buried a season-high seven threes, including her milestone 300th triple, which came with three minutes left in the second quarter. Of the grad student's 300 made threes, 23 have come this year with the Buff & Blue, while 275 came during Thornton's four years at Howard and the remaining four came during her one-year stint at Syracuse.
DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS
Monday will be GW's 22nd game all-time against an NCAA D-1 one opponent from Texas. To date, George Washington holds a strong 13-8 career mark against teams from the Lone Star State.
Monday will also be GW's second-ever meeting against TCU and it will be the first time the two sides will meet in Fort Worth. GW pulled out the win in the only prior meeting, 82-77, which was played in November of 2006 as part of the BTI Classic in College Park, Md.
SCOUTING THE HORNED FROGS
TCU enters Monday's contest at 3-4, but the Horned Frogs have hit a rough patch of late, having lost three of their last four contests.
Despite its record, TCU has played a consistent defensive game this year. The Horned Frogs have only allowed an opponent to score 70 points one time this season and they have been especially stingy from three-point range, holding opponents to just a 28 percent shooting clip from downtown.
