Buff and Blue head to Princeton for midseason meet
WASHINGTON - After a week-long hiatus, GW swimming and diving returns to the pool for the Big Al Invitational. Hosted by Princeton, the Big Al Invitational runs from Friday, December 2 through Sunday, December 4, and each day consists of prelims in the morning and finals in the evening.Â
GW will be going up against a field that includes CSU Bakersfield, Denver, Utah and host Princeton. The top 24 competitors in each event will advance to the A, B and C finals, as finishers in the A and B finals will score points for their teams.
The daily schedule features swimming prelims at 10 a.m., diving prelims at 12 p.m. and both swimming and diving finals at 6 p.m., the only difference being a 5 p.m. finals start on Sunday.Â
Last Time Out:Â
GW last competed in a weekend of split action - with the swimmers at Pitt and the divers at NC State. The Colonials had high performances across the board, completing podium sweeps in the men' 50-yard freestyle and women's 100-yard backstroke, and seeing another program record broken by Olivia Paquette.
Looking Ahead: Â Â
This will be GW's final team competition of 2022. The Colonials will send three to next weekend's Speedo Junior Nationals (Ganesh Sivaramakrishnan, Phoebe Wright, Ava Topolewski), but the Buff and Blue will not compete again until January 14, when Johns Hopkins makes a visit to the Charles E. Smith Center.Â
