Swimming and Diving Wrap Weekend at Pitt, Wolfpack Invite

Colonials fall at Pitt, but have high individual performances across the board
GW swimming and diving wrapped up a busy weekend of action, as the divers made waves at the Wolfpack Invite, and swimming finished the dual meet at Pitt.
The dual meet against Pitt started last weekend when diving competed against the Panthers. Despite challenging the power-five opponent, GW fell to Pitt, 241-112 on the women's side, and 238-113 on the men's side.
Dual-Meet Highlights:

Both the men and women completed podium sweeps on Saturday morning. The men out-sprinted the Panthers, taking home the top three 50-yard freestyle times (1st, D. Matic 20.86 / 2nd, M. Whelan 20.97 / 3rd, D. Koo 21.00), while the women dominated 100-yard backstroke (1st, P. Wright 57.74 / 2nd, M. Rickert 58.04 / 3rd, A. Clark 58.35).

Including the podium sweeps, the women captured three first-place finishes and the men locked up four first-place finishes.

Phoebe Wright put together a collection of fast times, taking home first in the 200-yard freestyle, and second in both the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard backstroke. Wright was also a member of the 400-yard freestyle relay and 400-yard medley relay, which finished second and third, respectively.

Philip Moldovanu dominated the long-distance freestyle swims. He locked up a pair of first-place finishes in the 500 and 1000-yard freestyles. Moldovanu owns the fourth-fastest 500-yard freestyle in program history and was just over four seconds off that time.

Djurdje Matic took home first place in the 100-yard butterfly and 50-yard freestyle.

Molly Smyers secured first place in the 400-yard IM and was just a few seconds off her personal best, which is fourth all time in program history.

Olivia Paquette qualified for the one-meter, three-meter and platform finals, and finished fourth, fourth and second, respectively. Paquette set another program record this weekend with her 214.15 platform dive. A first-year from Laguna Niguel, Calif., Paquette now owns two GW diving records after breaking the three-meter record last weekend at Pitt.

Spencer Bystrom qualified for one-meter, three-meter and platform finals and finished eighth, ninth and eighth, respectively.

Caitlin Inall finished seventh in the one-meter finals and eighth in the three-meter finals. Inall set a personal-best in the one-meter prelims of 261.05.

Dara Reyblat finished seventh in the three-meter finals and eighth in the platform finals.

The divers wrapped up the Wolfpack Invite by taking second in the team event, beating out Penn State, NC State's B-team, and UNC Asheville.
GW swimming and diving heads back to Greensboro, N.C., for the Toyota U.S. Open, which starts November 30 and ends December 3.
