Women's Soccer Dominates Richmond for First Win of the Season

Three Colonials scored their first goals of the season Sunday
WASHINGTON - GW women's soccer showcased a relentless offensive attack from Sunday's opening kick, putting three balls in the Richmond net and cruising to its first win of the season, 3-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• 23rd Minute: Elizabeth Cruz opened up the scoring for the Buff & Blue when she curved a ball into the top left corner of the net just minutes after being subbed into the match.
• 65th Minute: Senior Madi Coyne found the back of the net off a corner for her first goal of the season. Sophia Danyko-Kulchycky assisted on the goal from the set piece.
• 76th Minute: The Manchester connection linked up for the Buff & Blue's third goal of the day, after Alicia Window ripped one past the Richmond keeper off a beautiful pass from fellow first-year Amelia Booth.
• 87th Minute: Richmond was able to break up the clean sheet when Jessie Prillaman scored off a corner opportunity.
NOTEWORTHY
• This was the first three-goal game for GW since scoring seven in a victory against Delaware State last season (4/4).
• Elizabeth Cruz's goal was her second career tally, her first coming in last season's 7-0 win against Delaware State.
• The Buff & Blue have now won nine of their last 10 regular-season meetings against Richmond, dating back to the 2013 season.
• At least four different Colonials registered a shot for the seventh straight game.
• Tamaki Machi made five saves in the victory.
• GW held the edge in shots, 11-8, while the teams tied in shots on goal, 6-6, and corner opportunities 3-3.
