EMMITSBURG, Md. - GW men's soccer dropped a 1-0 decision to Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday night at Waldron Family Stadium.
Alek Wroblewski netted the game's lone goal in the 59th minute to propel the Mountaineers to the home victory in non-conference action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 59th Minute: Wroblewski broke the deadlock, taking a feed from Juan Molina in space and then chipping a shot over the charging goalkeeper. (Mount St. Mary's 1, GW 0)
NOTEWORTHY
- GW kept the pressure on throughout the night with 21 shots but put just three of them on target. Mount St. Mary's claimed the win, despite attempting just three total shots.
- Oscar Haynes Brown entered at halftime and notched a team-high five shots over 45 minutes of action.
- GW's shots on goal came from Joshua Yurasits (35th minute), Matthew Brummet (49th) and Demi Amigun (77th). Mount St. Mary's keeper Ethan Russell stopped all three of them to record the clean sheet.
- Justin Grady made a pair of saves in the GW net, including an excellent stop vs. Wroblewski on a breakaway in the 68th minute.
- Tobias Williams and Tiago Carvalho both earned their first career starts in the contest.
