Buff & Blue back in action Wednesday night
GW men's soccer is back in action on Wednesday with a non-conference matchup at Mount St. Mary's. It's a 7 p.m. kickoff at Waldron Family Stadium in Emmitsburg, Md.
LAST TIME OUT: GW opened its eight-game Atlantic 10 schedule on Saturday night with a 3-1 defeat at Duquesne. Demi Amigun's 15th-minute goal staked the Buff and Blue to an early lead, but the Dukes rallied with three straight scores to claim the home victory.
PROVIDING A SPARK: Amigun's first career goal came on his first shot attempt of the season after a scramble in the box following a service from Tom Cooklin. The sophomore from Newark, N.J., became the sixth different member of the Buff and Blue to find the net this fall, joining Oscar Haynes Brown, Liam Emson, Aaron Kronenberg, Carlyle Smart and Nico Krueger.
Making his second consecutive start at forward, Amigun was ultimately responsible for two of the team's three shots on goal for the night. He logged a season-high 41 minutes vs. the Dukes.
SCOUTING THE MOUNT: Mount. St. Mary's fell to Penn, 5-1, on Friday for its fifth straight loss following a season-opening win. Alek Wroblewski leads the Mountaineers with five points via two goals and an assist.
Back on Feb. 20, GW started its spring season with a 1-0 win over Mount St. Mary's on the Mount Vernon Campus thanks to Haynes Brown's golden goal in the 102nd minute.
UP NEXT: GW closes a run of four straight road contests on Saturday with a trip to Fordham for a rematch of last spring's A-10 Championship final.
