Buff & Blue look to secure A-10 Championship berth
GW men's soccer heads to Davidson on Saturday, seeking to secure a spot at the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championship. The regular season finale for both sides is a 4 p.m. kickoff at Alumni Stadium in Davidson, N.C.
The Colonials and Wildcats are tied atop the A-10 Central Pod with eight points (2-1-2), just ahead of VCU (seven points, 2-2-1). The Buff and Blue can clinch a berth in the four-team field for next week's conference tournament with a victory on Saturday.
LAST TIME OUT: GW had its unbeaten run in A-10 play ended on Wednesday with a 2-1 overtime setback at VCU.
The Buff and Blue took an early lead on a goal by Oscar Haynes Brown, but the Rams quickly equalized and later scored the golden goal in the first minute of extra time to claim victory.
Justin Grady matched his career high with six saves in the GW net. The sophomore goalkeeper continues to lead the A-10 and rank among the top 20 nationally with his 0.52 goals against average.
DYNAMIC DUO: Haynes Brown and Sandro Weber have combined to score all five GW goals in this abbreviated spring season.
Haynes Brown has netted a team-high three goals in five appearances, while Weber has totaled five points via two goals and one assist.

Weber scored for the Buff and Blue in their first meeting vs. Davidson on March 20, heading home a cross from Tom Cooklin in an eventual 1-1 draw.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS: Davidson has surged into A-10 Championship contention with back-to-back victories, outscoring George Mason and VCU by a combined total of 5-0.
Lucas Hauth leads the Wildcats with five goals, including the score late in regulation vs. GW that helped them secure a road point in their visit to the Mount Vernon Campus.
