Sophomore set school record at Raleigh Relays
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - GW outdoor track sophomore Ryan Fowkes was named the A-10 Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Fowkes, in his Buff & Blue outdoor track debut, set a new school record in the 1500m with a time of 3:48.02, shaving a second off the previous mark set four years ago. The sophomore had his first outdoor track campaign wiped out because of the pandemic, but has made up for lost time this season.
Prior to the outdoor season, Fowkes earned All-Conference honors in cross country by finishing 15th at the Atlantic 10 Championship earlier in March. His time at that event is the seventh-fastest 8k time in program history.
