The Colonials offense puts up 50 points for the third time this season
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - Despite a strong offensive effort by George Washington, the GW defense was unable to contain the Florida Gators, falling 61-50 in the finale of the San Juan Shootout.
The battle between the Colonials and Gators got started with some high octane offense early on, as both teams shot over 45 percent in the first half. However, it was the Gators' shooters who were able to come out on top with a 36-25 lead at the break.
In the second half, GW's defense slowed down the potent Florida attack enough to get back within seven points, but some strong late game buckets by the Gators' Kiara Smith helped lead Florida to victory.
Offensively, Sierra Bell had her best game in the Buff & Blue, leading the way with 10 points, including two three balls, while Ty Moore continued to dominate the glass with eight boards.
GW will now fly home to D.C. and prepare to take on James Madison this Thursday at the Smith Center. Tip-off against the Dukes will be at 7 p.m. on NBC Sports Washington+.
