Cross Country Gears Up For NCAA Regionals Friday

GW looks to follow up conference championship with NCAA Success
WASHINGTON - Fresh off a program first A-10 Championship and a slew of individual successes, men's and women's cross country hits the trails again this Friday for NCAA Regionals.
The event, which is hosted by Lehigh University, gets underway at noon with the women's 6k championship race, followed by the men's 10k championship race at 1:00 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT:
After an impressive regular season, the GW women's cross country team made history one more time, capturing their first ever A-10 Championship. During the Championship 5K, the Buff & Blue relied on their impressive depth and individual skill to capture their historic first title. Margaret Coogan led the pack for GW, finishing as the individual runner-up in a time of 17:31.7, while Peri Pavicic, Kathryn Nohilly and Olivia Syftestad all finished in the top-15 to take home All-Conference honors.
On the men's side in the five-mile, James Glockenmeier took home All-Conference honors with his fifth place finish in a time of 25:56.6. Glockenmeir became the Colonials' highest male finisher since Ryan Tucker finished 3rd in 2015, and also became the fourth male Buff & Blue runner to place in the top five during an A-10 Championship.
HISTORY OF THE REGIONAL:
The women's program finished 9th at last year's competition, their best ever finish in the event. Margaret Coogan capped off her season with a 39th place finish and the fifth-fastest time ever for the women (21:04.3).
Meanwhile, the men sent two runners, including James Glockenmeier, who competed in his first ever 10K race during the event.
