Buff and Blue conclude three-game homestand
GW men's soccer concludes a three-game homestand on Wednesday, welcoming Dayton to the Mount Vernon Campus for a 1 p.m. start. It's a rematch from last spring's A-10 Championship semifinal that saw the Buff and Blue claim a 1-0 victory over the top-seeded Flyers to advance.
Please note that the university has revised and updated its visitor policy, adding new requirements for our guests to campus. Visitors need to attest that they are vaccinated, or if they are unvaccinated, attest that they have received a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of their visit to campus, by registering here. Thank you for helping to keep GW safe.
LAST TIME OUT: GW was edged by Saint Joseph's, 2-0, on Saturday at The Vern. After a scoreless first half, the Hawks scored twice after the break to earn the A-10 road victory.
TOM TERRIFIC: Tom Cooklin ranks second on the club with eight points across just seven appearances.
The junior from Lewes, England, has notched two goals and four assists on the season, highlighted by a shining performance at Fordham on Sept. 25 that saw him post a goal and an assist to lift the Buff and Blue to a 2-1 victory.
Dating back to the spring season, Cooklin has 15 points in his past 14 games, including an assist on Sandro Weber's game-winner in the win over Dayton at the A-10 Championship.
JUSTIN'S TIME: Justin Grady equaled a career high with six saves on Saturday vs. SJU. It was the fourth time in his career that the junior goalkeeper has hit that mark, including his clean sheet vs. Dayton at the A-10 Championship last April.
For the season, Grady has totaled 38 saves and a .704 save percentage across the 11 games.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS: Dayton improved to 4-5-2 overall and 1-1 in A-10 play on Saturday with a 4-2 win over UMass. After falling behind 2-1 on a goal in the 66th minute, the Flyers rallied to win thanks to scores from Andy Sanchez (72nd minute), Elias Harryson (85th) and Geni Kenyane (89th).
Two-time A-10 Midfielder of the Year Kingsford Adjei has a team-high 11 points via four goals and three assists. Marc Kouadio has played every minute in net for the Flyers, recording a 1.83 goals against average.
UP NEXT: GW hits the road for its next two games, beginning with an A-10 contest at UMass on Saturday afternoon.
