Seven honored during Senior Day festivities
WASHINGTON - GW men's soccer finished its regular season home schedule on Saturday afternoon with a 4-0 loss to #12 Saint Louis at the Mount Vernon Campus.
The Bilikins scored four unanswered goals in the second half, including two from set pieces in a span of two minutes.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-54th Minute: After a scoreless first half, the Bilikins struck first off a free kick, when Mason Leeth buried a ball past Justin Grady from right in front of the net mouth. John Klein picked up his first assist of the match on Saint Louis' opening strike. (Saint Louis 1, GW 0)
-56th Minute: Saint Louis was given another set piece less than two minutes later, and again Klein was able to find his target. This time, Chase Niese was on the receiving end, and he buried it for the Bilikins' second of the game. (Saint Louis 2, GW 0)
- 79th Minute: Saint Louis added on after Simon Becher scored off of a cross from teammate Kevin Komodi. (Saint Louis 3, GW 0)
- 84th Minute: On the Bilikins' final score, Leeth finished off his brace when he buried a shot into the bottom left part of the net. Klein picked up his third assist of the match on Leeth's second tally. (Saint Louis 4, GW 0)
NOTEWORTHY
- Grady made six saves on the day for the Buff & Blue.
- GW was outshot by Saint Louis, 16-5, in the contest.
- Alhaji Turay and Matthew Brummet accounted for GW's shots on goal Saturday.
- Brummet, Turay, Oscar Haynes Brown, Cameron Mathewson, Hrólfur Sveinsson, Sandro Weber and Joshua Yurasits were honored during pregame Senior Day festivities.
