10/30/2021 5:43:00 PM | Men's Soccer
Veteran forward scored four goals in overtime victory
Haynes Brown scored once in the first half and twice in the second half before blasting in the game-winner from close range off a long throw-in from Joshua Yurasits less than two minutes into OT.
Behind Haynes Brown's heroics, GW climbed back from a halftime deficit to take the 3-2 lead before St. Bonaventure equalized in the final minute of regulation. That set the stage for the graduate student from London, England, to craft one final memorable moment in a career full of them with his fourth goal of the game, which is tied for the most anyone's scored in a D-I contest nationwide this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 9th Minute: Haynes Brown ran onto a through ball from Sandro Weber and blasted a shot past the charging goalkeeper to put the visitors in front. (GW 1, St. Bonaventure 0)
- 24th Minute: Joshua Pulla scored the equalizer, curving a terrific long-range shot inside the right post after receiving a pass from C.J. Takatch. (GW 1, St. Bonaventure 1)
- 30th Minute: The Bonnies took the lead six minutes later on another fantastic finish. Francesco Caorsi sent a chip behind the defense, and Cuneyt Vardar ran on and volleyed it home. (St. Bonaventure 2, GW 1)
- 49th Minute: GW came out of the break on the attack. Tom Cooklin drew a foul in front of the net to earn a penalty kick, and Haynes Brown converted the PK to tie the game. (GW 2, St. Bonaventure 2)
- 61st Minute: Haynes Brown struck again to make it a hat trick. The veteran forward received a pass from Tim Neumann in traffic, touched into space and fired a shot into the left side of the net. (GW 3, St. Bonaventure 2)
- 90th Minute: With just 46 seconds remaining, St. Bonaventure managed to pull level on another score from Pulla. (GW 3, St. Bonaventure 3)
- 92nd Minute: Haynes Brown came up clutch with the game-winner. A long throw-in from Yurasits bounced around in the box and found Haynes Brown's foot for the close-range blast. (GW 4, St. Bonaventure 3)
