Buff & Blue won in OT on Wednesday
WASHINGTON - Oscar Haynes Brown drew and then buried a penalty kick in overtime to lift GW men's soccer to a 2-1 victory over George Mason on Wednesday afternoon at the Mount Vernon Campus.
The Buff and Blue took the lead on Demi Amigun's goal in the 62nd minute and then worked into overtime after the Patriots netted a late equalizer. In the 98th minute, Haynes Brown played the hero, slotting a PK into the left side of the net for the golden goal to set off a celebration for the victorious home side.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 62nd Minute: Amigun broke the stalemate, sending home a cross from Tim Neumann. Alhaji Turay also picked up a helper on the play. (GW 1, Mason 0)
- 82nd Minute: Ishmail Kamara got behind the GW defense thanks to a pass from Darri Palsson and then poked a shot past the charging keeper for the equalizer. (GW 1, Mason 1)
- 98th Minute: Tom Cooklin played Haynes Brown into space for a one-on-one opportunity, and the Mason keeper fouled the veteran forward to set up the game-winning PK. (GW 2, Mason 1)
