
Women's Water Polo Clinches Winning Weekend

Colonials dispatched Gannon on Sunday
LEWISBURG, Pa. - Hannah Hathaway scored a career-high four goals to help GW women's water polo down Gannon, 12-5, on Sunday at Kinney Natatorium.
The Colonials' third straight victory secured a winning weekend at the Bucknell Invitational.
GW (4-4) never trailed in taking down the Golden Knights. The Colonials scored the game's first two goals and led 5-3 at halftime before pulling away out of the intermission.
The Buff and Blue outscored the Golden Knights, 4-0, in the third period. Marina Daroca Bazán's goal with 1:31 left in the third extended the lead to 9-3.
Hathaway led the way for GW, finding the net twice in each half. The junior from California also chipped in an assist and equaled a career best with two ejections drawn.
Alana Ponce delivered three goals, three assists and two steals in the victory, while Daroca Bazán and Juliette Belanger netted two goals apiece. Kira Bruno added a score, as well.
In net, Mackenzie Matheny held Gannon scoreless for more than 12 minutes during one stretch. The first-year from Australia ended the day with nine saves.
UP NEXT: GW returns to the pool next weekend with three games at the Princeton Invitational. The Colonials will face LIU and Wagner on Saturday before facing St. Francis Brooklyn on Sunday.
