Women's Water Polo Celebrated for Academic Success

Colonials equal program mark with 10 ACWPC All-Academic honorees
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -Â GW women's water polo has equaled a program record with 10 student-athletes garnering Association of College Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-Academic honors.
With a combined cumulative GPA of 3.37, the Colonials were also among 61 teams nationwide to earn recognition. The accolades come after the Buff and Blue put together a strong spring academically (3.65 semester GPA) in spite of the difficult circumstances presented by the COVID-19 global pandemic that cut short the 2020 season.Amanda Reeder (4.00), Mia Rosenblatt (3.85) and Mackenzie Matheny (3.83) received Outstanding status, while Megan Tomasi (3.61), Allison DeCicco (3.57), Aliyah Santi (3.47), Kira Bruno (3.45) and Juliette Belanger (3.42) landed the Superior designation. In addition, Marina Daroca Bazán (3.34) and Katherine Atherton (3.26) were honored on the Excellent list.
All 10 Colonials also earn spots on the CWPA Scholar-Athlete Team.
Recent graduates Bruno and DeCicco closed their collegiate careers as four-time ACWPC All-Academic honorees, while Tomasi was recognized for the second straight season. The rest were lauded for the first time among a record 744 individuals across the nation.
The program also garnered 10 individual academic honors from the ACWPC in 2011 and 2018.
