Let's Raise High Together

Dear GW Athletics Community,Â
Happy February. As our spring sports season approaches and we look toward the future, we pause to reflect on all that last semester provided.
We cheered as our women's soccer team made its first Atlantic 10 Championship game appearance since 1997. We roared ourselves voiceless when our SAAC President and senior Suzanne Dannheim became our second cross country runner ever to appear at NCAAs. We agonized as our men's water polo team saw its two-year run atop the conference come to an end in the championship game, but thanked seniors Atakan Destici and Andrew Mavis for their superior efforts to change the trajectory of this program.Â
In this new decade, we will be bold, courageous, and resilient in our pursuit of excellence while being humble and authentic in our approach. It won't be easy, because it is not designed to be, but we will be fearless in the attempt. That is what will make us champions.Â
As our winter sports press on and our spring sports begin, I am more optimistic and excited than ever to be here at the George Washington University. The same iconic views of our great city that captivated me as a student-athlete almost 30 years ago still inspire our student-athletes today. It is in the footsteps of our history that we'll run proudly with GW on our chests.Â
Thank you for inspiring, funding, and fueling our purpose. Your efforts as alumni, family, friends, and fans are vital to actualizing our pursuits of excellence. Consider making a gift this year in support of all we have accomplished as well as our ambitions for the future.Â
Â
In 2020, we will Raise High together and continue to make GW proud.Â
Most sincerely,Â
Tanya Vogel
