Colonials downed St. Francis Brooklyn on Sunday
PRINCETON, N.J. - GW women's water polo showcased a balanced offensive attack and excellent defense in Sunday's 9-5 win over St. Francis Brooklyn to close out the Princeton Invitational.
Juliette Belanger, Katherine Atherton, Allison DeCicco and Kira Bruno scored two goals apiece to power the Colonials past the Terriers in a morning contest at DeNunzio Pool.
GW raced out to a 5-0 lead after one quarter and never let St. Francis get closer than four goals the rest of the way to improve to 5-6 on the season.
Goalkeeper Mackenzie Matheny did her part to keep the Colonials in front with 11 saves, including a stopped 5-meter penalty shot. Alana Ponce notched three steals and Bruno grabbed a pair of thefts as part of the lock-down effort.
