GW diver honored for performance vs. Georgetown
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Peter Nachtwey of GW swimming and diving was honored as Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week on Tuesday in recognition of his diving excellence vs. Georgetown.
The junior from Ohio punched his ticket to the NCAA Zone Diving Championships for the third straight season in sweeping both boards to help the Colonials earn a win over the Hoyas on Saturday at Smith Center Pool.
Competing in his home pool for the final time this season, Nachtwey hit the NCAA qualifying standards on both boards. He started by notching a season-high score of 308.20 on 1-meter and then closed out the meet with a season-best 328.40 on 3-meter.
It's the sixth career A-10 weekly award for Nachtwey, who was named Most Outstanding Diver at last season's conference championships. He was previously selected as Performer of the Week on Nov. 13, 2018, and he received Rookie of the Week honors four times during the 2017-18 season to set a program record.
GW is back in action on Saturday, traveling to William & Mary for a 1 p.m. start.
