Colonials set to host Revolutionary Rival George Mason
LAST TIME OUT: GW came up short in a non-conference contest at Villanova on Tuesday, falling 1-0.
The Colonials held the Wildcats to just three shots on goal, but Evan Vare's 71st-minute score proved to be the difference.
WORTH THE WAIT: Noah Lubin has returned from an early-season injury and earned the past two starts in net.
A former club keeper who joined the team in the spring of 2017, Lubin made his collegiate debut last Saturday vs. Rhode Island and stopped seven shots. The senior from New York recorded a pair of saves over the 90 minutes at Villanova.
Lubin has made great strides between the pipes while keeping a rigorous schedule as a Neuroscience major and aspiring doctor. Read more about Lubin's commitment to academic and athletic excellence here.
MOORE EXPERIENCE: Reese Moore is the most experienced member of a veteran defensive unit.
The senior captain has made 58 appearances with 54 starts in his career, logging 4,642 minutes. This season, the Ohio native has started all eight games for the Colonials and played a team-high 710 minutes.
Thanks in part to Moore's excellence on the backline, the Buff and Blue have recorded 23 clean sheets over the past three-plus seasons, including three this fall.
SCOUTING GEORGE MASON: The Patriots (1-6-1) are coming off a 1-1 draw vs. Bucknell on Tuesday. Ryan Mingachos paces the squad with three goals and an assist.
George Mason won last season's matchup in Fairfax, Va., but the Colonials have won three of four in the series, including a 1-0 win in overtime on Oscar Haynes Brown's golden goal in the last meeting on the Vern on Oct. 4, 2017.
UP NEXT: GW plays three straight road games, starting with a trip to No. 3 Virginia next Tuesday. A-10 visits to St. Bonaventure (Oct. 9) and Duquesne (Oct. 12) follow.
