Colonials continue to tune up in preparation for A-10 Championship

CHERRY HILL, N.J. -- The George Washington women's rowing team completed a successful day of racing at the Cherry Hill Invite on the Cooper River on Saturday afternoon.
In its first-ever appearance at the regatta, the Colonials faced a field of 15 teams, including three hailing from the Atlantic 10.
After finishing third in their morning heat (7:09.37), the varsity 8 boat went on to earn a spot in the afternoon's petite final, where they topped the field with a first place time of 7:03.64, a 5.26 split over second place Connecticut.
The 2V8 also earned a spot in the petite final after a second place finish in their morning heat (7:33.51). In a petite final that featured Georgetown, Saint Joesph's, Marist, Lehigh and Old Dominion, the Colonials clocked in at 7:35.46 to finish fourth.
The varsity four had a strong day on the water for the Buff and Blue, finishing first in their morning heat with a time of 8:29.15. With their time, the Colonials clinched a spot in the grand final and went on to place fourth (8:16.71) over Jacksonville, Georgetown and Saint Joesph's.
The Colonials' 3V8 wrapped up the team's day on the Cooper River. After dominating in their morning heat with a first place time of 7:42.45, 16.28 seconds faster than second place Connecticut, the Huskies sought redemption in the grand final and just edged GW (7:29.32-7:32.01).
