Colonials post fastest times of the weekend on day two of racing

WASHINGTON – The George Washington women's rowing team wrapped up the 31st GW Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
After opening the Invite with a trio of wins, the Colonials were even faster than Friday. The varsity 8 clocked in at 6:36.40 in their morning race against A-10 foe Rhode Island to finish second before posting their fastest time of the weekend, 6:26.50 against Drexel. The Dragons recorded a time of 6:16.80, the fastest varsity 8 time of the Invite, to secure the Howard W. Wilkins Bowl.
The 2V8 also recorded faster times on the second day of racing. After stroking a first-place time of 6:49.30 over MIT on Friday, the Colonials posted a pair of second place finishes against Rhode Island (6:40.00) and Drexel (6:35.70).
In their first taste of GW Invite action, the women's varsity 4 clocked in at 7:25.80 in their morning race against Rhode Island to finish second before registering a second-place time of 7:32.10 against Drexel.
The 3V8 wrapped up the weekend of racing on a high note, topping Duquesne by a 30 second margin (7:02.00 - 7:32.10).
GW will be back in action next weekend at the two-day Cherry Hill Invite in Cherry Hill, N.J.
