Colonials open A-10 action with two-game road swing
OPENING DRAW: The George Washington lacrosse team is set to open Atlantic 10 action this weekend with a pair of games on the road. The Colonials will first go head-to-head with La Salle on Friday at 3 p.m. before making the trip to North Carolina to face Davidson on Sunday at 1 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT: In a tightly-contested affair that featured six ties and two lead changes, Monmouth snuck away with an 11-10 win over GW (2-6) to conclude the non-conference slate on Saturday afternoon. The Colonials finished the day with a 24-23 edge in ground balls, a 27-26 shots margin, and a 15-8 advantage in caused turnovers, while the visiting Hawks led off the draw (12-11).

SCORING SPREE: First-year attacker Tori Hampton led the squad with a season-high four goals on Saturday, three of which came in the game's first half. The Marlton, New Jersey native tops the team her .857 shots on goal percentage and with 17 points (14g, 3a).

O FROM D: Junior Posie Paoletta scored her first career goal against Monmouth on Saturday. Paoletta caused a turnover in the neutral zone, picked up the groundball, and ran straight to the goal to score the first tally by a GW defender this season. The organizational science major also ranks fourth on the team with 17 ground balls and is tied for third on the team with 11 caused turnovers.

ABOUT LA SALLE: The Explorers enter conference play with a 2-5 record, earning victories against LIU Brooklyn (17-4) and Radford (17-15). Maddie Dachowski leads the team with 23 points (19g, 4a) while Molly Moughlin paces the squad between the pipes with 70 saves and 11.63 GAA.

ABOUT DAVIDSON: The Wildcats (6-2) opened their season on a six-game win streak before falling to William & Mary (9-8) and No. 13 Duke (17-8) last week. Davidson will first host Massachusetts on Friday before welcoming the Colonials to Eagle Field on Sunday.Â

ROAD AHEAD: After opening conference play with back-to-back contests on the road, the Colonials will return home for a pair of A-10 games at home next week. GW will first welcome St. Bonaventure to the GW Lacrosse Field on the Mount Vernon Campus on Friday, March 29 at 2 p.m. before hosting Richmond on Sunday, March 31 at 1 p.m.
