Isabela Patino advanced to a Friday final
CLEVELAND - George Washington's Isabela Patino advanced to her first final of the week and placed 18th in the 100-yard butterfly on Friday at the CSCAA National Invitational Championship.
The first-year from California recorded a time of 55.13 seconds in prelims before moving up a spot by touching in 55.59 seconds in the B final.
Patino was also part of both GW relays on the night. She joined forces with Emily Zhang, Andrea Moussier and Jackie Torrez to take 12th in the 800-yard freestyle relay (7:28.92). In the 200-yard medley relay, she teamed with Meghan Burton, Courtney Sicinski and Caroline Racke to land 21st (1:44.33).
The Colonials closed the second of three days at at Cleveland State's Busbey Natatorium in 14th place out of 44 teams (142.5 points). Akron (410) and Rice (390) are atop the standings at the national meet.
Sicinski was in action Friday at the national meet in both the 400-yard individual medley (26th) and 100-yard breaststroke (46th), while Andrea Ho swam the 100-yard backstroke (35th) and 100 fly (53rd).
Moussier (27th) also swam the 400 IM with Burton (25th) and Racke (39th) competing in the 100 fly.
Isabel Berdecio (33rd), Rebecca Smolcic (36th) and Grace Olivardia (40th) represented the Buff and Blue in the 100-yard backstroke, as well.
Zhang placed 33rd in the 200-yard freestyle.
UP NEXT: The meet wraps up Saturday with another full day of competition. The action kicks off with preliminary races at 9:30 a.m. and concludes with finals at 6 p.m.
