Ortiz Leads Divers at NCAA Zone Championships

Senior paced GW on 3-meter
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Jake Ortiz closed out his collegiate diving career Tuesday, pacing George Washington on the 3-meter board at the NCAA Zone A Championships.
The senior from New York placed 30th in a decorated field at Navy's Lejeune Hall, earning a personal-best finish in his third trip to the NCAA qualifying meet with a score of 243.55.
Peter Nachtwey was one spot behind in 31st with a score of 239.25 after being GW's top finisher in 25th on the 1-meter board Monday.
Ortiz capped a decorated four-year run in Buff and Blue, highlighted by a pair of podium finishes at the A-10 Championships. He took bronze on 3-meter at last month's conference meet and also placed fifth on 1-meter to help the Colonials clinch a third straight team title.
Nachtwey will be in action again Wednesday to close out the three-day meet competing in the platform competition. The sophomore from Ohio is the program record holder (267.35) in the event.
