Women's Swimming & Diving Takes Third at Fall Frenzy Invite

Andrea Ho led Colonials on Sunday
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Andrea Ho qualified for a pair of individual A finals on Sunday, leading the way for GW women's swimming and diving on the final day of the Sheraton Le Meridien Fall Frenzy Invite hosted by Queens University.
The junior from Australia capped a strong meet by placing fifth in the 200-yard backstroke (2:00.77) and sixth in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.51/2:03.23 prelims). She recorded personal-best times in both events on the day.
Jackie Torrez (200 fly), Stine Omdahl Petersen (200 breast) and Grace Olivardia (100 free) also represented the Buff and Blue in A finals on Sunday at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center.
The Colonials wrapped the weekend third out of 16 in the team standings with 2,196 points behind the host Royals (2,819) and Wingate (2,369).
HIGHLIGHTS
-Â Ho equaled her best finish of the weekend with the fifth-place showing in the 200 back after landing in the same spot Saturday in the 100 back.
- In the 200 fly, Ho was followed by Torrez, who touched in 2:04.66 to take seventh. Torrez landed a season-best time of 2:01.02 during prelims to qualify first in the event. Isabela Patino qualified for the B final there (14th, 2:09.05).
- Following up Saturday's record-breaking effort in the 100 breast, Omdahl Petersen posted a fifth-place finish in the 200 breast. The first-year from Norway touched in 2:18.97, good for third on the program's all-time top 10. Courtney Sicinski won the B final in 2:19.10 with teammate Anne Juneau (10th, 2:21.85) touching next.
- Olivardia paced six Colonials in the 100 free. The sophomore from Florida qualified for the A final and then touched sixth in 51.77 seconds. Rebecca Smolcic won the B final in 51.61 seconds with Becca Brown (:52.14) right behind. Lynn Zhang (19th), Patricia Cerri-Droz (24th) and Sydney Melnick (28th) also contributed points there.
- Olivardia anchored GW's fifth-place finish in the 400 free relay, teaming with Smolcic, Brown and Meghan Burton to finish in 3:28.47.
- GW landed four in the top 11 in the 1,650 free. Tali Lemcoff touched in 17:16.87 for seventh with Andrea Moussier (ninth, 17:21.80), Marissa Martin (17:27.37) and Erin McCarthy (17:28.02) rounding out the group.
UP NEXT:Â A select group of swimmers will head to USA Swimming Winter Nationals on Dec. 4-7 in Atlanta. The rest will be part of a dual meet vs. A-10 foe Richmond on Dec. 7 at Smith Center Pool.
