More on GW SAAC's partnership with the Jessie Rees Foundation
WASHINGTON - The George Washington Student-Athlete Advisory Committee celebrated a successful school year of partnership with the Jessie Rees Foundation, hosting the pediatric cancer charity Friday afternoon for an event in the Charles E. Smith Center.
About 80 student-athletes and staff members worked together to stuff 500 Joy Jars with toys and trinkets to be distributed to youngsters battling cancer. It was the first time the California-based foundation whose motto is Never Ever Give Up (NEGU) has held a jar-stuffing event on a college campus.
GW SAAC began its partnership with the Jessie Rees Foundation in the fall and has raised nearly $12,000 via donations and fundraising events. Student-athletes have also made several visits to local hospitals to distribute jars over the course of the year.
