May 23, 2017 While GW Athletics claimed 15 team championships in nine different sports over the four-year tenure of the latest university graduates, not including a second consecutive national championship for community service, the crowing achievement for the department was, as always, Commencement Day. This year GW Athletics sent 112 student-athletes into the world; better prepared for life as people and as leaders on account of their time in Foggy Bottom.
Director of Athletics and Recreation Patrick Nero recently sat down with four of them to hear where they'll lead their lives next. On GW's inaugural Signing Day, Tobi Adewole (men's soccer), Brooke Bean (women's soccer), Shannon Cranshaw (women's basketball) and Eli Kashi (baseball) were featured.
These four student-athletes are about to take their time as undergraduate students at GW and employ the skills they've learned and qualities they've honed to have a profound impact on the world beyond. In a class of 112 students commencing into the world, these are just a few of the stories of how GW student-athletes Raise High and will now Raise Higher in society beyond.
