CLEVELAND - Tali Lemcoff's fourth-place finish in the 1,650 yard freestyle Sunday highlighted the final day of the Magnus Cup Invitational for George Washington women's swimming and diving.The freshman from Israel posted a time of 17:07.45 to earn a spot on the program's all-time Top-10 list in the event. She led an impressive GW showing in the event with Lucy Castro (ninth), Selin Ozturk (11th) and Abigail Fusco (17th) also scoring.
The Colonials wrapped up the three-day meet at Cleveland State's Robert F. Busbey Natatorium in fifth place out of 15 squads with 432 points. Akron (1,809.5 points) claimed the title.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Gemma Atherley turned in GW's best individual finish of the weekend in the 200-yard backstroke. The sophomore from the Channel Islands touched third in 2:03.62. Andrea Ho placed 13th in the same event.
- Emily Zhang and Jackie Torrez both qualified for the A final of the 100-yard individual medley. Zhang took sixth (58.74 seconds) with Torrez in 10th. Ho took 14th in that one.
- Fusco and Hannah Kopydlowski both made their first A finals of the meet Sunday. Fusco was 10th in the 50-yard butterfly (26.78 seconds), while Kopydlowski placed 10th in the 50-yard backstroke (28.18 seconds).
- GW closed the meet by finishing 10th in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Fusco, Atherley, Ozturk and Zhang recorded a time of 3:33.38.
