GW Women's Rowing Opens Season at Murphy Cup

PHILADELPHIA - The George Washington women's rowing team opened its spring season on the Schuylkill River at the annual Murphy Cup on Saturday.
The Varsity 8 placed fourth in its morning heat, navigating the 2,000-meter course in 6:54.48, before a third-place finish in the afternoon Petit Final with a time 6:59.09.
The JV8 finished second in its morning heat in 6:54.65 to advance to the Grand Final in the afternoon. The Colonials then placed fifth with a time of 7:02.75.
The Novice 4 won both its heat (7:50.23) and Grand Final races (7:57.10) to wrap racing on Saturday.
GW returns to action when it travels to the prestigious San Diego Crew Classic next weekend.
