WASHINGTON, DC -- GW men's and women's swimming teams hosted Old Dominion in a midseason clash at Charles E. Smith Center Saturday afternoon. The Colonials fell to the Monarchs 108-89 for the men and 112-77 for the women.
"This is a tough meet every season," said head coach Dan Rhinehart. "We are right in the middle of a tough training period, with exams coming up and the holiday break."
The Colonials started off the meet with a 200-yard medley relay win for the women's squad of Isabel Tawney, Jennifer Cohn, Paige Dingess, and Emily Leik posting a time 1:53.49, just .16 hundredths of a second ahead of ODU's relay team in second place.
"We changed some things up for this meet as we are still training and working to drop some time for the A-10s in about two months," said Rhinehart.
The men's squad collected six second-place finishes against the Monarchs, with many still hitting in-season bests and pushing to get better.
GW has a break from competition but will be continuing to train before coming back to for the spring 2010 semester. First up on the schedule in 2010 will be the Rhode Island Invitational, Jan. 15-16, in Kingston, RI.
