WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington University Women's Rowing team announced the novice team for the 2008-2009 season on Wednesday. The thirty members were selected from an original group of over forty women who tried out for the team.
"As the novice coach, I have the opportunity to work with walk-on student-athletes who have the enthusiasm and determination to become a Division I athlete," said assistant coach Maria Bokulich. "Each year I challenge the novices to perform better than the group from the year before and I think this group is ready to take on that challenge. They have the talent and focus to do well and they are already showing the qualities needed to become a competitive student-athlete."
The novice team will compete for the first time on November 1 at the Head of the Occoquan in Occoquan, VA.
