WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington women's rowing team will open their 2007 spring season at home tomorrow, in double-dual action, beginning at 7:40 am on the Potomac River, against George Mason, Georgetown and North Carolina. The second set of races will begin at 11:00 am.
Head Coach Rob McCracken is optimistic that his varsity eight can repeat last year's conference performance. "With nine seniors and eight members of last year's Atlantic 10 champion varsity eight on the team, we are excited to see what this group can accomplish during the spring," said McCracken.
This year's varsity eight includes senior coxswain Mansi Shah, fellow seniors Angie Costales, Hilary Goldberg, Liz Gordon, Kate Austin, Ashley Larrimore and Jenna Feistritzer, as well as junior Angela Wunderli and sophomore Bess Austin.
The Colonials last competed against UNC in 2006 at the Lake Wheeler Invitational in Raleigh, NC. GW finished in second of seven in the regatta and beat the Tar Heels by 15 seconds. The Colonials will meet up with the Hoyas on April 15 at the Class of '98 Cup on the Potomac River.
