Men's Soccer Outdueled by Duquesne, 3-1

PITTSBURGH, PA - Junior forward Mike Rollings scored in the 65th minute, but host Duquesne scored an early goal in each half to knock-off the George Washington men's soccer team, 3-1, in an Atlantic 10 Conference match Friday evening.
GW (7-8-1, 1-4-1 A-10) allowed goals in the seventh and 47th minutes to fall behind 2-0 to Duquesne (4-9-3, 2-4-0), which is coached by former Colonials associate head coach Jake Ouimet. Dukes defender Pat Flinn assisted on both goals, the first to Drew Jeffery at the 6:02 and second to Travis Mackenzie at 46:09.
Rollings brought GW within striking distance with his second goal of the season at 64:51. The Olney, MD native has tallied two of the Colonials' four goals during their five-match winless skid.
Duquesne's Stefan Lundberg tacked on an unassisted insurance goal in the 84th minute as the Dukes snapped a five-match losing streak.
Senior Greg McKay, who was named to CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine's Academic All-District II first team Thursday, led GW with four shots. Sophomore Mike Briscoe had three. Senior goalkeeper Greg Yahr finished with five saves.
GW held a 7-4 edge in corner kicks, but trailed in shots 18-15, and shots on goal, 8-3.
GW faces must-win situations in each of its final three matches to keep its hopes for an Atlantic 10 Championship berth intact. The Colonials visit St. Bonaventure Sunday at 2:30 pm.
