Morrison Named Assistant SID

WASHINGTON, DC - Mike Morrison has been named the new assistant sports information director at George Washington University, the school's Sports Information Director Brad Bower announced today. Morrison replaces Galen Munroe who left the position in January.
Morrison will serve as the primary media relations contact for the GW women's basketball team as well as the Colonials' men's soccer and women's lacrosse teams. Morrison spent the last two years working in the Syracuse University Athletic Communications Office as a graduate student assistant and intern, while earning his master's degree in public relations from the prestigious S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
At Syracuse, Morrison served as the primary media relations contact for the Orange's women's soccer, rowing, cross country, and women's lacrosse teams. He was also the secondary contact for the men's basketball team and assisted with football. This past year his efforts helped two Syracuse women's lacrosse players earn All-America honors and his 2004 Syracuse Track &Field Media Guide was voted second in District I by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
A native of Holland Patent, NY, Morrison attended Ithaca College and earned his bachelor's degree in sports information and communication and a minor in journalism in 2002. At Ithaca, he also spent a year working in the school's sports information office. Morrison has experience in the professional sports ranks as well, having worked as an intern in the public relations department at Major League Baseball (MLB).
Morrison, 24, resides in Gainesville, VA.
